Death of a patient DMCH forms probe body

The authorities of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) have formed a three-member probe body to investigate into the death of a patient at the hospital after pushing an injection allegedly by a sweeper.
The body was formed on Saturday led by DMCH deputy director Dr. Khwaja Abdul Gafur.
DMCH assistant director Dr. Mozammel Haque and surgery department’s Dr Mahbub Elahi are the two other members.
The committee has been asked to submit their report within next ten working days.
The victim, Biplob Mondol (26), who hailed from Keraniganj, took admission in the neuro-surgery department on Sunday after he was seriously injured in a motorbike accident.
Biplob’s condition deteriorated further on Friday afternoon. Later, he died after he was given an injection allegedly by the sweeper Suman.
Police took Sumon under their custody after the patient’s relatives thrashed him following the death.
Sumon has been shown arrested under section 54 and remand will be sought to interrogate him, Shibli Noman, assistant commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Ramna Zone) told The New Nation.
