Jatiya Party Chairman and Deputy Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Ghulam Muhammed Kader on Monday expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death in speedboat accident on the river Padma at Shibchar in Madaripur district.
In a condolence message, he said, “The tragic accident is not acceptable …effective measures will have to be taken to curb the river accident. Legal action must be taken against the offenders.”
He urged the government to pay compensation to the family members of the deceased.
GM Kader also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
The rescue team so far recovered 26 bodies including three children after a collision between a passenger speedboat and a bulkhead cargo on Banglabazar-shimulia route near Kathalbaria old ferry ghat of Shibchar in Madaripur around 7:30am on Monday.
Jatiya Party Secretary General Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu also expressed deep shock and sorrow at the tragic death in speed boat accident.
