Death anniv of Madhusudan Dutta observed in Jessore

Great poet Michael Madhusudan Dutta was remembered at Sagardari under Keshabpur upazila in Jessore on Sunday making the 141th death anniversary of the poet.
Sagardari based Madhusudan Academy has chalked out several programme to mark the day.
The programmes include discussion meeting, drama show of the poet and cultural programme. Matirur Rahman, president, Madhusudan Academy chaired the discussion.
Michael Madhusudan Dutta was born at Sagardari under Keshabpur upazila in Jessore on January 25, 1824.It was Saturday. Land lord Raj Narayan Dutta was his father. His mother’s name was Janhabi Devi. He died at Kolkata General Hospital at around 2pm on June 29, 1873, Sunday, followed by the death of his wife Henrietta on June 26, three days before his death. He was buried at Park Street, Kolkata, India.
He is the writer of famous epic- Meghnadbadh (1861).
He is also the writer of a number of dramas, poetry books, translated books and others literary works. His literary works include Sharmishtha (1859), Ekei Ki Bale Shabhyata (1860), Buro Shaleker Ghare Roan(1860),Padmabati(1860),Tilattama Shambhab( 1860), Krishnakumari (1861),Nil Darpan (1861),Hectar Badh(1871), Mayakanan (1874), The Captive Lady(1849) and so on.
