The 30th death anniversary of Comrade Mohammad Farhad, former General Secretary of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and a former member of parliament, will be observed today.
The leftist political leader died of heart attack on October 9 in 1987 in Moscow at the age of 49 while undergoing treatment in the capital city of the then Soviet Union, said a press release.
Marking the day, CPB and different organizations have taken various programmes, including placing floral wreaths at his grave at Banani graveyard at 8 am today.
Later, a commemorative meeting will be held at Maitri Auditorium of Mukti Bhaban at 5 pm in the city’s Purana Paltan area.
Besides, a public rally will be held at Farhad’s birth place at Boda upazila in Panchagar district at 5 pm today.
