The 10th death anniversary of former three- time MP and one time Upazila Chairman was observed at Altaf Golandaz Dregree College Auditorium on Friday.
He died at the MP hostel on the 17th February in 2007. The local MP Fahmi Golandaz Babel, son of late Altaf Golandaz MP was present as chief guest at a discussion meeting on his life and works. .
Upazila Chairman Asraf Uddin Badal, Pouro Mayor S.M.Ikbal Hossain Sumon, UNO Shiddhartha Shonkor Kundu, Awami league leaders ,Heads of the different educational institutions were present on the occasion.
On behalf of Fahmi Golandaz Babel MP, his mother ,Mafuja Golandaz, wife of MP Altaf Golandaz was present as a special guest. People from all walks of Gafargaon attended the elaborate programmes of the MP’s death anniversary .
The programmes of the day started with Quaran Khani after Fazar prayers. Besides, Fatheha (special prayers) was offered at the MP’s grave. On the occasion, discussion meeting, Doa, Milad Mahfil were held at Gafargaon upazila.
Altaf Golandaz was born at the village of Bagua of Gafargaon as a respectable Muslim family on 15 August in 1947. He involved in politics in his student life. Later, he was elected Upazila Chairman in 1989. After that he was elected three times MP in 1991, 1996 2001 from Gafargaon constituency. He spent his whole life for the welfare of the people of Gafargaon. Now his son Fahmi Golandaz Babel MP has followed the footprint of his father.
