The Cultural Affairs Ministry on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) to hold an open architecture competition, aiming to finalise the designs of Public Library and National Museum Complex Project.
Additional secretary of the ministry (dev and planning) Md Aminul Islam and IAB president Kazi Golam Nasir inked the deal on behalf of their respective sides at the ministry’s conference room in presence of Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzman Noor.
Speaking on the occasion, Noor said the government has taken the Public Library and National Museum Complex Project considering the present need and future demand.
We’re going to hold an open architecture competition to select a suitable design for the Public Library and National Museum Complex Project, he said. Once a well-designed multistoried building is built under the project, the public library will be shifted to it, the Cultural Affairs Minister said, adding that another multistoried building will also be constructed for the National Museum. Under the agreement, the IAB will arrange an open architecture competition within six months, and a director will be appointed in this regard to closely work with the ministry.
