A Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court (DMMC) has directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to submit reinvestigation report on sexual harassment of women on
the Bengali New Year’s day at TSC of Dhaka University on August 2. Magistrate Sazzadur Rahman on Sunday set the new date after PBI failed to submit the report on this date.
PBI failed to submit the report for the fifth time. It is mentionable that the police did not at first give much importance to the issue, but at the end filed the case when feminist and student organizations criticized their role severely.
Police published pictures of eight culprits who humiliated women and announced Tk 1 lakh as reward for awarding them.
After that Dipok Kumar Das, Inspector of Detective Branch of Police (DB), submitted a report to the court saying that the culprits were not found.
