The 5-feet long dead dolphin was spotted by some local children, teenagers and fishermen bathing in the river around 12:30 pm on Sunday.
Witness Shurat Ghazi said the dead dolphin had injury marks on skin, various parts of its upper body and head. It is believed that the dolphin, which died in the sea, floated away from the sea by upper tide in the morning.
Local social worker Aminul Islam Sohail Talukder said, after hearing the news we went to see the dolphin. The locals were told to bury the dolphin but they did not do so and it floated again in the tidal water.
Amtali Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Halima Sardar said she had not received any news of floating dead dolphin in the river. Witnesses should have buried the dead dolphin.
