DCCI urges Indian investors to invest in BD

DCCI President Abul Kasem Khan urged to remove the trade barriers between Bangladesh and India. He said in 2016-17 Bangladesh exported $672.404 million to India and imported $6146.2 million from India. He said, recently demand of two wheelers have been increased in Bangladesh besides he invited Indian entrepreneurs to invest in tire manufacturing industry as well. Geographically Bangladesh is situated in a suitable region from where export to China, ASEAN and seven sisters region of India is easy. Recently India imposes anti-dumping duty on Bangladesh’s export of jute to India. He urged the Indian concerned agencies to reconsider the decision.
Abul Kasem Khan disclose it while a 16-member trade delegation from The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) visited Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) on 24 Tuesday, said a press release.
The Indian trade delegation was led by Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, President, BCCI. During their visit a Business Meeting was held with the members of DCCI.
Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, President, BCCI said Bangladesh, in recent past, did very well in terms of per capita income which is US$1752 now. He said Bangladesh is an emerging market and there are so many potential areas to invest here. He urged for increasing a bilateral border trade between the two countries. He also highlighted the importance of infrastructure development of land ports of both Bangladesh and India. He said Indian investors are keen to invest in health, education and IT sector of Bangladesh. Indian investors are also interested in township development, steel manufacturing, IT, health, education, nursing institutes in Bangladesh, he added.
DCCI Vice-President Riyadh Hossain said Bangladesh is improving in the IT sector, and Bangladeshi youth are interested in doing IT business. He invited Indian IT entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh’s IT and software industry. DCCI Director Kh. Rashedul Ahsan urged to make Indian visa processing easier for Bangladeshi nationals.
DCCI Senior Vice-President Kamrul Islam, Director Hossain A Sikder, Engr. Md. Al Amin, Mohammad Bahsiruddin, SM Zillur Rahman and Secretary General AHM Rezaul Kabir were also present.
