DC Chandpur Anjana Khan Majlish has stood by a poor MBBS girl student by extending financial assistance for her admission to MBBS course and to continue her studies. The girl’s name is Sumaiya Akter Rupa, daughter of a poor father Mohammad Hossain in Uttar Moishadi village under Chandpur Sadar.
Very recently her father has suffered a severe heart attack and now hospitalised. Her mother is a housewife. Sumaiyya has a brother studying at Chandpur Govt College. In the meantime, her MBBS Exam result was published and she came out with flying colours bringing smiles, hopes and aspirations and a silver line in the dark sky and to the family. She has been selected to get herself admitted to Shahid Suhrawardi Medical College in Dhaka. Her study became totally uncertain following these miserable conditions of her family. Finding no other alternative, she applied to DC seeking help and assistance for admission to MBBS Course and to continue her studies in the days ahead.
DC Anjana Khan Majlish, also a kind hearted lady, took cognizance of the matter and handed over her financial help and assistance on Sunday last. Chandpur Govt Mohila College Principal Masud Ahmed has said, Sumaiya passed the HSC Exam with GPA 5 this year under Cumilla Education Board from this Mohila College. Contacted, Moishadi UP Chairman Moniruzzaman Manik has confirmed the miserable condition of the girl.
Talking to this correspondent, Sumaiyya (who preferred to keep her father’s name secret) has said, she is looking forward to getting help from Chandpur Zila Parishad and Chandpur Foundation and also philanthropic organisations to continue her studies.
However, the DC’s standing by this poor but meritorious girl for her admission to MBBS course has been acclaimed by all in the town.
