JKG Health Care Chairperson Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury is now undergoing interrogation at the office of the Detective Branch (DB) of Police providing fake coronavirus certificates.
On Tuesday morning, Sabrina was taken to the DB office for questioning.
Tejgaon police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Salauddin confirmed the matter to the media on Tuesday and said that the case was filed with the police station has been handed over to the Detective Branch for further investigation.
Dr Sabrina was placed on a three-day remand on Monday in a case filed over deceiving people by giving false coronavirus test reports.
Besides, all personal and institutional bank accounts of Dr Sabrina have also been frozen by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) on that day. Earlier on Sunday, Sabrina was dismissed from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and Hospital by the Health Ministry.
She was arrested over coronavirus test report scam on Sunday afternoon. She was called to the Tejgaon DC office of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) of the police for questioning on Sunday.
After the primary grilling, Sabrina was shown arrested.
Earlier on June 24, police arrested her husband and JKG Health Care CEO Ariful Chaudhury and four others from the capital for allegedly providing fake coronavirus test reports without carrying out any test.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is set to form a panel on Tuesday to probe :corruption of JKG Health Care Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury over embezzling over Tk 8 crore providing fake coronavirus certificates.
Police came to know that JKG Health Care, a non-profit organization, issued 27,000 Covid-19 reports. Out of those, 11,540 samples were tested through ICDCR, and prepared reports of rest 15,460 samples in its Laptop which evidences were found in seized Laptops.
According to allegations, JKG Health care charged Tk 5000 from the patients and USD 100 from foreign nationals for each Covid-19 test certificate.
