DB Inspector murder accused confesses involvement

An accused in the DB Inspector Jalal Uddin murder case confessed yesterday (Monday) admitting his involvement in incident.
Magistrate Khurshid Alam of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka recorded the confessional statement of accused Md Nur Mohammad Manik. Earlier, Investigation Officer of the case, Inspector Md Wahiduzzaman produced Manik before the court as he voluntarily agreed to give the confessional
statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPc). Later, he was sent to the jail.
On March 19, police conducted an operation on a house at holding No. 105/A/1, adjacent to Alimuddin School of Pirerbagh area. During a gunfight between the police and some terrorists, Jalal was injured by a gunshot. He was immediately taken to the Square Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at 2 o’clock of the night.
The terrorists fled away after the gunfight was over while police detained three persons including Tania from the building. Later, on March 21, DB SI Shamim Ahmed filed a murder case with Mirpur Model Police Station in connection with the incident. Some unidentified persons including Md Hasan Mahmud were made accused in the case.
