The day-long Walton School Chess Competition was held at the Dr Muhammad Shahidullah Adarsha Uchcha Madhyamik Biddyapith in the city on Thursday.
Golden Sporting Club arranged the chess meet under auspices of Walton Group with the assistance of Bangladesh Chess Federation.
Senior Additional Director of Walton FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn inaugurated the chess competition in the morning as the chief guest, while General Secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF) Gazi Shayiful Tarique, Vice-President of BCF KM Shahidullah, President of Golden Sporting Club Amir Ali Rana and General Secretary of Bangladesh Chess Players Association Ehteshamul Alam were present with him as special guests.
Principal of Dr Muhammad Shahidullah Adarsha Uchcha Madhyamik Biddyapith Khalequzzaman Jewel presided over the inaugural ceremony. Assistant Head Mistress of the School Monira Laiju acted as the moderator of the total programme.
Above hundred students of the School took part in the day-long competition.
The champion of the meet was awarded a crest. The second place-achiever to the tenth place-earner got medals.
