Jahangir Hossain (46) hailed from Choto Gourichhanna village under Fuljuri union in Betagi Sadar Upazila of the district. He maintained his family in a sorrow state . Wife Rina (29) worked as maid servant. Their elder daughter had to stop studying due to insolvency and son Sakib (8) has been suffering from malnutrition.
In the cyclonic storm Sido in 2007 , their family was completely devastated.
Though Jahangir was industrious , he has to face problem to manage work and have to pass his time as unemployed .
He dreamt to become a businessman but failed . Later, Jahangir got a job in repairing rural road under Recall Project of development organization Jagorani. When her husband Jahangir got job, her wife Rina worked instead of him. Thus they earned money and started jackfruit business in the season. When jackfruit is not available , he sells other fruits like papaya and wood apple and earned Tk 250 to 300.
Jahangir has now become self-reliant .
