Daylong ‘2nd Daffodil ICT Carnival 2019’ ended on Saturday at Daffodil International University (DIU) permanent campus at Ashulia in the capital.
Prof Dr Sazzad Hossain, Member IMCT, Research Support and Publication Division, Bangladesh University Grants Commission present as the chief guest at the event and distributed prizes among winners at the closing and prize giving ceremony of the carnival.
Dr Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, DIU was present at the program as the Guest of Honor. Presided over by Prof Dr Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice Chancellor of DIU, Mohammad Nuruzzaman, CEO of Daffodil Family, Prof Dr SM Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Mostafa Kamal, Dean of Permanent Campus, Prof Dr Syed Akther Hossain, Head, Department of CSE, Dr Touhid Bhuyan, Head, Department of Software Engineering, Dr Sheikh Mohammad Allayer, Head, Department of MCT, Sorwar Hossain Mollah, Head, Department of CIS were also present at the program.
Students of DIU and Daffodil Education Network took part in the carnival. From them, the jury board was selected top-10 projects for prize. The winners were awarded worth of Tk. 2 million.
The 1st position winning project was ‘Smart Home Automation System’ by the student of CSE. They are: Abdullal AL Yamin, Samsuzzaman Mia and Prosenjit Bairagi. The 2nd position winning project was ‘School 360’ by another group of student of CSE. They are: Sazzadur Rahman, Rakibul Islam and Borhan Uddin. The 3rd to 10th position are respectively: project ‘Remote Doctor’ by the student of Software Engineering, ‘Soil Monitoring System’ by the student of CSE, ‘DIU Campus Guide’ by the student of CSE (Permanent Campus), ‘Auto Controlling Poultry’ by the student of BSDI and DPI jointly, ‘Auction Management System’ by the student of CIS, ‘Bakery Management System’ by other group of student of CIS, ‘Happy Hub’ by the student of BSDI and DIPTI jointly, ‘Smart Farm through IOT’ by the student of CSE (Permanent Campus). Beside this the student of Daffodil International School, Daffodil International College and MCT Department of DIU were honored as special award.
Prof Dr Sazzad Hossain said that Bangladesh is now going through a tunnel of dream. The name of the dream is to build a happy and prosperous Bangladesh. And it will be possible only for the strength of young generation. Now we have more than 8 crore young people. Bangladesh will be change through this talented generation, if we guide and teach them properly. DIU is doing the work perfectly. He also said that ICT carnival is an amazing idea for development of student’s creativity. Other university should follow this idea. He commented.
Dr Md. Sabur Khan in his speech said that the future world would belong to information technology. So, it is quite impossible to sustain in that future world without enhancement of ICT knowledge. That’s why the carnival has been organized to encourage students of Daffodil Education Network for inventing new ICT ideas and projects.
Dr Sabur Khan informed the students that DIU management is trying to turn the campus as hi-tech park adding the facilities of innovation lab, Start up Market, Knowledge Valley for the students.  
He urged the students to utilize this opportunity developing innovate and internationally viable products and services. He also urged the students to develop the ideas based on the demands of customers requirements, As this is the time of globalization, so he urged the students to design their ideas as per based on consumers demand.
