Dacoit killed in ‘gunfight’ with police

An alleged dacoit was killed in ‘gunfight’ with police at Banaripara upazila of Barisal early Friday.
The victim has been identified as Dulal, 35, son of Ismail Hossain from Chandipur under Chandpasha union in Babuganj
 upazila of the district, said Ziaul Ahsan, Officer in Charge of Banaripara police station.
He was wanted as accused in eight cases including a murder, five robberies and two extortions filed with different police stations, police sources saids
Narrating the incident of gunfight, Ziaul Ahsan, OC of Banaripara PS said that on the basis of report about preparation of robbery, police cordoned the East Sakharia under Soliabakpur near Chakhar of Banaripara at about 2 :00 AM on Friday.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the miscreants opened fire on them which triggered retaliation at about 2:30 AM.
Searching the area, the body of Dulal, 12 rounds of cartridges, three sharp weapons, and one mobile set were recovered.
Zahir, a police constable, was also injured in the operation and treated at local upazila health complex, police sources said.
The body of the alleged dacoit had been sent to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital and three cases of attack on law enforcers, recovery of arms ammunitions and preparation for robbery, would be lodged in this connection, police sources added.
