D-8 Industrial Cooperation begins in Tehran today

The fourth Ministerial Meeting on D-8 Industrial Cooperation begins in the Iranian capital of Tehran Sunday.
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu left here this morning for Tehran to attend the three-day meeting, an official release said here yesterday.
The industries minister will lead a two-member delegation at the meeting, the release said, adding other member of the team is Additional Secretary of the ministry Md Farhad Hossain.
Besides Bangladesh, other seven members of the D-8 grouping will participate in the meeting. Senior government officials and members of industry and trade delegations would also actively take part in the meeting.
At the meeting, Amu will put emphasis on boosting bilateral and multilateral trade between the D-8 member states.
He will also place emphasis on increasing contact between the chamber and trade bodies of the member states side by side with strengthening the activities of the working group of the organization to raise trade. The industries minister will hold meetings with ministers and senior officials of the Iranian government. He will also exchange views with the entrepreneurs and visit different high-tech parks.
The three-day meeting will end on January 28 with Tehran Declaration.
Amu is expected to return home on January 29.
The third Ministerial Meeting on D-8 Industrial Cooperation was held in Dhaka on October 8-10 in 2012. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the meeting, the release added.
The D-8 (Developing-8) is an organization for development cooperation among eight countries stretching from South East Asia to Africa. They are Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey.
The D-8 formally started its journey through a summit of the heads of state and government of members states on June 15 in 1997.
