Two youths were stabbed to death in the city’s Dakhkhin Pirerbagh at Mirpur on Sunday midnight.The deceased have been identified as Qaiyum Hossain (32), a resident of Madhya Pirerbagh in Mirpur, and his friend Md Jahangir (32), an electronics appliance trader from Pirgachha in Savar upazila under Dhaka district.Salauddin Khan, Officer-in-Charge of Mirpur Police Station, said, local people spotted the bodies of the two young men on a road at Battala in the area around 1.00 am and informed police, which rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. There were several stab marks in the bodies and heads of the dead, he said. Quoting some local people, the OC said that the criminals stabbed them to death and fled the scene. The law enforcers recovered two motorbikes from the spot.OC said, in primarily investigation, police found that a local youth, named Billal of the area had an affair with a teenager girl who was missing from her residence since Friday. The family members suspected that Billal took her to his sister Parvin at Bottala of the area. At one stage, they looked an altercation with Parvin. When an youth of them slapped her, members of both the families got involved in a clash. After some times, the girl’s family members left Parvin’s house. Latter, Qaiyum Hossain along with his friend Jahangir raiding on two motorbikes went to the Parvin’s house again to take revenge. OC said.When they reached there, the relatives of Billal’s family attacked them with lethal weapons and left Qaiyum Hossain and Jahangir dead on the spot. The OC, said, “We think that the deceased were the relatives of the girl.” Farhan, brother of the deceased, said that Qaiyum, an expatriate in Malaysia, went out of the residence around 11:30pm with some of his friends.Tahmina, wife of deceased Jahangir, said, “We talked over phone last night, but I have no idea why he went to Pirerbagh”. Police sources said, Qaiyum was involved in Yaba business. Few months ago, Police arrested him with huge pieces of Yaba. After he was bailed our, he was again involved with Yaba business. However, there is no report of arrest of suspect killer and filing of case till Monday evening. The bodies have been sent to (DMCH) morgue for autopsy.
