An amount of Tk.76 cr 10 lakh 29 thousands lying outstanding against the public and private organizations till last month.
Out of total, Tk.14,71,65000 in govt sector and remaining Tk.61 38,63000 under private sector. Besides, Tk. 8 crores are recoverable from the defaulters of disconnected consumers with penalty.Chief Revenur officer of CWASA Mahmudul Hoque told The New Nation that formal official letters had already sent to the consumers but no positive results sighted . As such CWASA could not fulfill the target. Meanwhile ,mobile court is being conducted regularly for realization of arrear bills .
While asked the Managing Director of CWASA Engr. AKM Fazlullah about any separate programmes other than mobile court to realize the outstanding , he said our meter readers are regularly knocking the doors of the consumers for realizing arrears and distributing leaflets to aware the consumers about thes water bills. He further said the total demands of water in the port city is about 42 crore liters and CWASA is able to supply 36 crore liters from Sheikh Hasina Water Plant, MohraPlant and Madunaghat plant and 4 crore liters are being lifted from under ground through installing deep well in different parts of the city.
