CWASA looks to supply water round the clock after 2020

Managing Director of Chittagong WASA (CWASA) Engineer A K M Fazlullah yesterday said at least 600 Kilometres pipe line will be set up in the port city by 2020 for uninterrupted water supply to the city dwellers.
‘Most of the CWASA pipe line is being cracked by the over flowing water pressure and at present CWASA is capable of supplying 95 percent demand of the city dwellers and there will be no water crisis after 2020,’ he asserted.
The WASA MD told this while addressing an open discussion on what to be done by the citizens in removing nagging water logging in second largest and commercial capital Chittagong.
Held in city’s theatre Institute hall today the discussion was presided over by President of Chittagong Union of Journalists Reaz Haider Chowdhury and addressed, among others, by Vice Chancellor (VC) of Chittagong University of Engineer and Technology (CUET) Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, VC of University of Science and Technology in Chittagong Prof. Dr Provat Chandra Barua, Prosecutor of International War Crime Tribunal Advocate Rana Das Gupto, city planner Ali Asharf, engineer Mohammad Harun, Chittagong Development Authority Chief Planner Shahinul Islam, panel Mayor Chowdhury Hasan Mohammad Hasni, chief planner of Chittagong City Corporation A K M Reazaul Karim, chief Engineer of Chittagong port engineer Mahmudul Islam, Principal of Chittagong Medical College Dr Selim Mohammad Jahangir, President of Bangladesh Medical Association, Chittagong Dr Mujibul Hoq Khan, councillors Shoibal Das Suman, Abida Sultana, Hasan Murad Biplop and director of Chittagong Chamber Mahfuzul Hoq Shah.
