Bangladesh rookie pacer Mustafizur Rahman has been recruited by English club Sussex ahead of their campaign for the Nat-West T20 Blast starting on May 20.
Mustafizur, will be the 2nd overseas player for Sussex, after the New Zealand’s batsman Ross Taylor, this season.
He is expected to participate in the Royal London One-Day Cup after Taylor’s departure at the end of July.
Mustafizur is the first Bangladesh cricketer to play for Sussex, and the 3rd player after Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal to represent in English county.
In his immediate reaction, Mustsafizur mentioned this achievement as a dream come true for him.
“I am very much excited having such opportunity. Playing in county cricket has always been an ambition for me.”
Hoping to repay the faith they (Sussex) have shown on his performance Mustafizur said, “I’m thankful to Sussex.”
Mustafizur will also be available for Sussex following his spell for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the franchise based Indian Premier League (IPL).
Since his debut in all formats of cricket last year, the 20-year-old left-arm fast-medium bowler has attracted a lot of attention around the world cricket fraternity for his unique cutters.
