Officials of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department (CIID) seized nine containers of float glass worth Tk one crore by for importing the goods by false declaration at Chittagong Port on Thursday. Based on secrete information, officials of CIID seized the containers at number-3 Yard of Chittagong port. Jakir Hossain, deputy director of CIID said three importers have imported nine containers of float glass with false declaration of ‘clear figured glass’. After physical inspection the containers were sealed off in presence of the officials of concerned departments, Custom sources said.
CIID officials said they would take legal steps against three importers and C&F agents involved in the forgery aimed at evading nearly Tk 23 lakhs of import tax, he added.CIID will frame charge of tax evasion of Tk.23 lakh agains them . The importers of these float glass are – JA Enterprise, Shah Amanat Enterprise and Runa Enterprise and the C&F agent MF International submitted of Bill of Lading for clearing the consignments , sources said.
