Customs seize huge electronic goods at Ctg Port

Officials of Chittagong Custom House (CCH) seized two containers of electronic goods including reconditioned photocopier machines and IP camera imported from China through false declaration on Thursday.
On a tip-off, the authority conducted a drive at New Mooring Container Yard at Patenga and seized two containers mostly loaded with second-hand photocopier machines, IP Cameras, and Galaxy Tabs today, Custom Intelligence said.
CCH officials said they would take legal steps against the persons involved in the forgery.
Customs Intelligence sources said the importer SB Corporation of Dhaka imported these consignment declaring oil filter, pistons, air filter and drilling machines from china but the importer brought these seized items aimed at evading govt taxes of about Tk.38 lakh. After physical inventory of the container, the tricks of evading taxes detected.
Hasina Enterprises was the clearing agent of the consignment, sources said.
The approximate cost of the seized goods about Tk.1.10 crores, sources said.
A departmental case against the importer and the C&F agent has been lodged accordingly, sources said.

Circular in connection was published by CMP on Wednesday, CMP sources said. Violators to this circular will be dealt with seriously, sources added.
Following the circular of Election Comission secretariat, Dhaka, this prohibition was imposed sources said.
