Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque on Monday identified militancy and drug abuse a two main challenges and said law enforcers have taken a “zero tolerance policy” against these crimes.
The IGP has instructed police officials to take all necessary steps to curb militancy and eliminate drug abuse across the country.
The Police chief said these while addressing a regular meeting at the Police Headquarters in the city on Monday morning.
“People involved in illegal drug trading will not be spared, irrespective oftheir political affiliations,” the IGP said.
Clearing his stance about the role of law enforcers, Shahidul Hoque said that no policeman can maintain connection with illegal drug traders under any circumstances.
“I will take a stern action if any policeman is found involved with the illegal drug trade,” he warned.
