Cuban envoy calls on FM

Outgoing Cuban Ambassador to Bangladesh with residence in New Delhi Abelardo Rafael Cueto Sosa paid a farewell visit on Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali at the latter’s office in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Foreign Minister Mahmood Ali appreciated the unequivocal support and encouragement of Cuban people and the contributions of Fidel Castro to the liberation war of Bangladesh.
Terming the bilateral relation between Cuba and Bangladesh as historic the outgoing Ambassador recalled the warm friendly relations between the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Cuban leader Fidel Castro.
He also expressed his government’s interest to strengthen the bilateral relation with Bangladesh in the days ahead.
Both sides renewed their commitments to cooperate with each other in various multilateral fora including the United Nations and expressed hope that Bangladesh and Cuba would continue to keep up the spirit of friendship as the two countries aspire for peace and development.
At the end, Foreign Minister congratulated the outgoing Cuban Ambassador on the successful completion of his tour of duty as Cuban Ambassador to Bangladesh and wished the Cuban Ambassador’s personal health, happiness and success in every step of life.
Mentionable that ambassador Abelardo Rafael Cueto Sosa joined Cuban Embassy in New Delhi in 2011 and in February 2012, he presented his credentials to the President of Bangladesh as the concurrently accredited Ambassador of Cuba to Bangladesh with residence in New Delhi.
