CU student succumbs to injuries after fighting 5 days

Chittagong University student Sumit Mitra, who sustained serious injury in a tragic accident at university’s 1No. Gate area, at last yield to death after fighting five days in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Sumit left his last breathe at 10.00 am at the ICU, said CMCH Assistant Registrar Dr Narayan Dhar after struggling five days for his life. He added that Because of excessive internal bleeding, his brain was totally damaged and we couldn’t cure him.
Sumit was a first year student of LLB department, got admitted under 2015-16 session and was hailing from Sathkira Upazila.
When the death news of Sumit erupted in the campus, vice-chancellor Prof Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury expressed deep shock over the incident. Meanwhile, Chittagong University Journalists’ Society (CUJA) on the veneration of Sumit hold one-minute standing mute and the Chhatra League cancelled its rally and others colorful functions over the birth anniversary of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Two BCL men hacked ‘by fellows’ at CU: Some Bangladesh Chhatra League activists of Chittagong University unit allegedly hacked two of their fellows on the campus on Tuesday afternoon.
Tanzib Ahmed, a third year botany student; and Mehedi Hasan, a first year statistics student at CU, took treatment at the university medical centre, said on-duty physician Tipu Sultan.
Mizanur Rahman Bipul, deputy publication secretary of the BCL unit, said around 30 followers of CU BCL president Mohammad Alamgir Tipu attacked them abruptly while they were sleeping in their respective rooms at Shah Jalal Hall.
 “When I tried to resist them, they pushed and beat me and hacked Tanzib and Mehedi,” he said, adding that some senior leaders rescued them later.
