Chittagong University (CU) on Thursday formed a four -member committee to investigate into the allegation about the fault of the entrance exam of its ‘D’ unitwhich is facing mounting criticism.
Confirming the matter, CU acting registrar KM Noor Ahmmed said the probe committee is formed to investigate the matter whether there was any fault or not of the concerned authority.
The committee is headed by the general secretary of the University Teacher’s Association Prof.Dr. Anjan Kumar Chowdhury while three other members of the body are Computer Science and Engineering Department associate Prof. Iqbal Ahmmed,assistant proctor Hanif Mia,and deputy registrar of higher education and research Delwar Hossain. The committee was asked to submit the report within short time.
Earlier, on October 25, the admission test of the ‘D’ unit was taken place. Around 400 students appeared in on the wrong question paper at the examination as one of the teachers ordered them to sit for exam with wrong question paperwithout informing the unit chief coordinator and Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university.
AS a result, in the exam, instead of the required Banglaquestion ,the examinations were conducted on a question paper made only for British English curriculum medium students.
Later, the unit chief coordinator professor Dr. Abdullah Al Farooq treated the incident as a’technical fault’ and arranged re-examination to only those students who appeared before exam with wrong question paper on November 8.
On the other hand, after completing the admission test of ‘D’ unit, the concerned authority did not publish the result of second time examinee who appeared before examination obtaining improvement in HSC examination
Though authorities published ‘A’,’B’ and ‘C’ unit result of those improvement students earlier.
Excluding those improvement students who have enlisted in merit list under ‘A’,’B’,’C’ unit, the university authority has given the opportunity to the other students to select subject according their merit .
