CU admission test begins today

The admission test for the first year honors courses under the academic session 2019-20 of Chittagong University will begin today through holding the “B unit “admission test. The University authorities have taken all preparations including to catch digital forgery and to prevent any sort of disturbances for the purpose of holding examination with peaceful environment.
A total of 1,66870 applicants have lodged their application against 4,926 seats under four units and two sub-units in this year at CU. Some 52,870 applicants have applied for 1,214 seats under ‘A’ unit (science and engineering faculties), 42,004 for 1,221 seats under ‘B’ unit (Arts and Humanities Faculty) , 14,001 for 442 seats under “C” Unit (business administration faculty) and 52,970 for 1,157 seats under D unit (Social Science Faculty). Around 34 students will vie for one seat in this year.
This year, the entrance test will be held in shift wise like previous year. The first and the second shift examination will start on 9.45 am and 2.15 pm respectively. All examinations will held in the university campus centers and Hathazari Government College.
 The university authorities have taken precautionary measures to prevent question leakage and digital forgery in the test. Law enforcing members and mobile court will be deployed on the university campus and outer centers to avoid any kind of disruption and fraud.
The law enforcement agencies were given necessary instructions to stay alert on the campus to avert any untoward situation for the sake of holding the test in a free and fair way.
The university authority has issued an embargo on setting up ‘help desk’ of any organizations. At the same time, embargo also imposed on buying guide book and taking preparatory exam from the admission seekers who stay in the residential halls.
Contracted, CU acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Shireen Akter said that In addition to the steps taken last year in admission test ,we have taken some new steps to hold exam peacefully and without any kind of disturbances. We impose an embargo on setting up ‘help desk’ of any organizations.
At the same time, embargo also imposed on buying guide book and taking preparatory exam from the admission seekers who stay in the residential hall. Attestation is not needed for the pictures of candidates.
CU Acting Proctor Ali RezaulKarim told The New Nation that all-out security measures have been taken to complete the admission test. More than seven hundreds law enforces along with members of BNCC, Robe scout and DSB will be deployed during the test Electronic devices and memory attached watch will not be allowed in the examination hall.
Meanwhile, the shuttle train operation has been rescheduled for easing the transport system during the admission test.
The first train would head from port city`s Battali Station to the university station at 6 am and the latter train schedule is 6.30 am ,8.15 am ,8.45 am ,9,15 am (Demo Train) 11.40 am,12 .00 pm,1.50 pm (Demo Train) ,3.00 pm,4,00 pm,8.30 pm respectively. On the other hand ,the train will leave from campus to city at 7.05 am, 7.35 am ,9.20 am,10.00am,10.30 am (Demo train), 1.00 pm,1.30 pm,3.00 pm(Demo), 5.00 pm, 5.30 pm, and 9.30 pm.
