Police Super of Chittagong AKM Hafiz Akhter said concerned police official will be held responsible and disciplinary actions will be taken against them if any innocent is arrested during the anti-militant drives in Chittagong.
He disclosed it while addressing the monthly Crimes review meeting of the district police held on Wednesday at its office conference hall. He cautioned the police office to conduct drives carefully and this drive launched exclusively against the militants, anarchists and terrorism.
He said if any one found liable for arrest of innocents, he will be death with seriously.
Police super said following the tragic killing of Babul Akhte’s wife, combing operations enforced across the country against the militants as directed by the IGP from June 10 last.
During the drives in Chittagong district under 16 thanas, more than one thousand arrested so far but yet to detect any militant, sources said.
In the review meeting the Police super discussed the matter of extortions, hijacking in the respective upazila, thana and poura sadar areas during Eid shopping.
He directed the concerned police officials to deploy additional forces in the upazila based bus terminals, rail stations, bazaars and markets.
In the meeting, among others , Additional Police Super(Sadar) Md. Habibur Rahman, Additional Police Super(North) Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Addl.Police Super (DSB) Md. Rezaul Masud, Addl.Police super(South) AKM Emran Bhuyia were present , sources said.
