Ctg Rly evicts hundreds of unauthorised shops

Chittagong Railway authority has evicted about hundred illegally installed kutcha and semi pucca shops from both side of the rail track at No.2 Solasahar Gate on Saturday .
Theevictiion drive was conducted from afternoon which continued about 4 hours. Railway sources said the next eviction drive will enforced at Janalihat Station area on September 16 next.
 Mentionable that a kitchen market was grown up beside the rail track and a huge number of vegetable venders installed their kutcha shops and the vegetable vendee put their vegetable items beside the track in the morning time defying the risk of railway mishaps. Eye witnesses sources said following the whistle of rail engine, the venders quickly remove their merchandise from the track and again return to same place after leaving the train.
 Despite repeated allegations from different quarters and newspapers reports against the risky vegetable market of Solasahar, the CRB authority did not take any strong measures against them.
Following the eviction of illegal installations in Dhaka Kawran Bazar area on Thursday last, Railway east zone authority has taken steps of eviction of illegal kitchen markets beside the rail track in Chittagong from Saturday last.
 Beside the kitchen markets, kutcha slums are also erected in different city areas of Chittagong . A number of casualties are being occurred frequently in the slum areas beside the track. Different sources said, kitchen market, floating vegetable sellers and kutcha slum are grown up beside the railway track at No.2 gate, Kadamtali, Chandgaon Rasthar Matha, Bahar Signal, Jautala, Kulshi Murgi Farm Gate, Kaptai Rasthar Matha, Akbar Shah Crossing, City Gate, Bagan Bari, Muradpur, Bibirhat and Janali hat of Chittagong city.
 A railway police sources said in last one and half year , about hundred people were killed with railway accidents in unprotected rail crossings and the railway track based kitchen markets and the slums in Chittagong district.
