Chittagong Port has denied permission to a North Korean cargo vessel to take berth in the port following the declining the permission by the ministry of foreign affairs of Bangladesh in conformity with the UN Security council sanctions.
The vessel named MV Zhong De-1 who carried cement clinkers for Bangladesh. Secretary of Chittagong Port Md. Omar Faruk disclosed it to the media on Friday night. Ctg port sources said the Panama flag carrier vessel reached Kutubdia channel in Bay on Thursday last aimed at anchoring in Chittagong port berths but the port authority denied the entry either in outer or inner berth.
Sources said the vessel was carrying 43 thousand metric tons of clinker .
