Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry formally inaugurated the 26th Chittagong International Trade Fair in the city on Saturday .
Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan attended the inaugural function as the Chief Guest while State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed, City Mayor A J M Nasir Uddin, former President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCCI) M A Latif MP as special guests.
Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan MP formally inaugurated the Fair at the Bangabandhu Conference Hall of World Trade Center this afternoon and said that the handling capacity of Chittagong Port increasing day by day by collecting new equipment and l ranking rise 27 steep .
CCCI President and Adviser to the Fair Committee Mahbubul Alam said we had already completed all preparations for the fair. Mahbubul Alam said over 450 stalls including 17 premier gold pavilions, four mini mega pavilions, 11 premier pavilions, eight standard pavilions, 172 premier mega stalls and 23 mega stalls will be set up at the Railway Polo ground in the port city. He also informed that friendly country Thailand has agreed to participate in the fair as partner country for the 14th time.
The CCCI president said some of the leading industrial enterprises from home and abroad, including Thailand, Iran, Moriches and India will participate in the fair for the 7th time along with some other countries to showcase their products.
The CCCI has been organizing the fair since 1993 and it got a wide range of publicity by the Bangladesh missions abroad, foreign missions in Bangladesh and different trade bodies and trade-based websites. CCCI officials said besides stringent security measures, one-stop banking service, fire service center and emergency medical center will also be set up inside the fair venue for the convenience of participants and visitors.
