Necessary steps are being taken to transform the Chattogram General Hospital into a medical college, said Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel. He was speaking after inaugurating a six-bed High Dependency Unit (HDU) at Chittagong General Hospital on Sunday.
He said the infrastructure is not just a hospital; the main issue is medical services. The government is working to develop the hospital. Efforts are being made to turn the General Hospital into a medical college hospital. .
The Dy. Minister for Education said the hospitals in Chittagong have been developed as a result of public-private initiatives. In addition to individual initiatives, various businesses have stood by with financial support. With the concerted efforts of all, we are able to deal with Corona. A significant number of people in Chittagong live outside the country. Therefore, the Prime Minister has directed to increase the amount of vaccine especially in Chittagong.This HDU was set up at the initiative of Chittagong Field Hospital and with the financial support of BSRM.
Chattogram General Hospital, Senior Consultant, Department of Medicine Abdur Rab Masum and Civil Surgeon Sheikh Fazle Rabbi presided over the function. BSRM Deputy Managing Director Tapan Sengupta, Chittagong Field Hospital CEO Dr. Biddut Barua were present among others.
