After Italy, this time from Chittagong port, ships are going directly to Liverpool port of England with the clothes made of ‘Made in Bangladesh.’
On May 20, at 12:00 noon, the ship named ‘MV AMO’ started its journey as the first ship of this route from CCT- 1 jetty of Chittagong port. The local agent of the ship is Phoenix Shipping Limited. Port
Terminal Manager Kudrat-i-Khuda confirmed the matter. He said it was the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the country’s major seaports. The container ship started its journey directly from Bangladesh to England. Most of these containers are RMG products.
The rest are jute products.
Capt Tanvir of Saif Powertech, the top terminal operator in charge of container handling at the port’s CCT, NCT, said the MV AMO with 162 TEUs in 100 containers left the CCT 1 jetty at around 11:30pm.
The ship has been given priority in berthing. The ship left the port within 24 hours.
