Ctg Customs set new records of revenue collections

Chittagong Customs House has set a new records in collecting the revenues this immediate past fiscal than the two previous years. In this fiscal, CCH exceeded the collection by Tk.310.23 crores beyond the target.
 Customs sources said the target of revenue collection in 2014-15 fiscal was Tk.25032 crores which fulfilled before June 4 last. Later NBR again fixed target of Tk.26,933 cr on first week of june last. But at the end of last fiscal CCH realized total revenue of Tk.27,244 crores which is Tk.310.23 cr more than the revised target .According sources of CCH, the target of revenue collection in 2013-14 was Tk.24,410.65 crores crores but total realized Tk.23,237.76 crores during the same period which was Tk.1,172.89 crores less than the target.
 In comparison with the fiscal of 2013-14, CCH realized Tk. 27,244 crores in 2014-15 fiscal which is more Tk.4000 crores than the previous fiscal. While contacted Asstt. Commissioner of CCH Abdullah al Mamun told The New Nation that the excess revenue collections became possible following realization of revenues on seized cargos, auction sale proceeds of seized imported cargos, cashing of bank guarantees and reallisation of arrear revenues from their importers.
He said in last two fiscals, we faces different obstacles in realizing the revenues due to unstable political situation in the country but in immediate past fiscal , CCH took it challenge to bring dynamism in fulfiling the the targets.
 While contacted a Director of Chittagong Chamber told that due to positive motives of the businessmen and cordial behaviour of the customs officials, it became possible to fulfill the revenue target.
 He also mentioned that introduction of automation services in customs houses, vigilance over revene and tax evasion and customs played remarkable role in this sector.
