Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport is being used for human trafficking. Many of the Rohingya people carrying Bangladeshi passports are reportedly leaving Bangladesh through the Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport.
Despite measures of immigration authorities of Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport, Rapid Action Battalion, immigration police and law enforcers, many female Rohingyas went to Sudia Arabia for performing Omrah and other Gulf countries as housemates.
Sources said, on January 18, the immigration authority of Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport detained a total of 14 passengers suspecting that they were being trafficked from Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia.
Sources said, a total of 14 passengers had submitted their papers for immigration at the Airport on Monday morning. But, observing the papers and behavior of the passengers, the immigration authority suspected that they might be trafficked from Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia. As a result, the authority detained them.
Superintendent of Police (Immigration) Mohammad Shariar Alam said, “The detained 14 persons were going to Saudi Arabia for performing Omrah. But, there were no close relatives with the women in this connection. So, we suspected that they are being trafficked from Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia.”
Later, the law enforcers were confirmed that all of them were Rohingya people including seven females. Sources said, earlier, On Novermber 10 last year, RAB team rescued five persons who were going to Iraq illegally from Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport.
The rescued victims are identified as Mohammad Tuhin Islam (26), son of Rahman Mollah of village Ananadapur in Munshigonj, Sajib Ahmed (30), son of Shamsuddin Ahmed of village Gopalpur at Barhatta in Netrakona, Mohammad Rusel Dhali (27), son of Tafij Dhali of village village Ananadapur in Munshigonj, Mohammad Shohag (32), son of Tafij Tanti of village Ananadapur in Munshigonj and Mohammad Ripon (23), son of Shahidullah Bepari of village Ananadapur in Munshigonj.
RAB sources said, acting on secret information, a team of RAB raided Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport n the morning and detained five victims from there. The team observed that the date of issuing visa of all five victims were same. The visas were business visa and short term visit visa without any sponsorship. The visas validity date were only 60 days from issuing date.
RAB said, one broker named Rabiul gave them visa and tickets and they stayed at a hotel in Dhaka previous night and came to Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport in the morning for going to Iraq. They had tickets of Qatar bound flight G9522 (NON-STOP).
RAB sources also said, RAB has already identified four human traffickers at Munshigonj. They are Mohammad Sabuj (45), Mohammad Sajib Ahmed (25), Mohammad Rabiul (32) and Mohammad Jashim Uddin (32).
Earlier on October 12, RAB detained a total of 39 persons from Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport when they were waiting to go to Libya from Chittagong. Later, the RAB identified 30 brokers of human traffickers and two travel agents for human trafficking.
The two travel agents are Al Mamun Travels at East Jindabazar Sylhet and Shamim Tours and Travels (Sylhet Branch). The rescued and detained victims are identified as Zia Uddin, Jahirul Islam, Mohammad Delwar Hossain Sumon, Mohammad Shahanur Alam, Mohammad Imtiaj Hossain Tanu, Mohammad Saikat Ali, Mohibur Rahman, Saiful Islam, Rahi Mahamud, Hossain Ahamed, Mohammed Majidur Rahman, Mohammed Hafijul Khan, Emdada Sardar, Dipok Chandra Roy, Mohammed Kabir Hawlader, Mohammed Shamim Sardar, Mohammed Mofijul Islam, Kaji Sayed, Muteleb Sardar, Wasim Bepari, Imon Hasan, Ahamed Kaji, Mohammed Hedayet Ullah, Mohammed Mehedi Hasan, Jamil Hossain, Mohammed Nowsher Ali, Mohammed Abdul Hamid, Mahabub Ahamod, Momit Ahamod, Mohammed Liton, Abdul Hamid Tipu, Mohammed Waliur Rahman, Kari Mohammed Abnul Bashar, Mohammed Shibbir Ahamed, Saju Ahamed, Mohammed Taj Uddin and Mohammed Fahim Ahamed.
