Chittagong Abahani off to a good start in the KFC Independence Cup Football Tournament beating Muktijoddha Sangsad KC by 2-0 goals in a Group A match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Tuesday.
Moroccan forward Tarik el Janabi and Haitian booter Fabrice Noel scored the port city team, one in each half.
Chittagong Abahani took lead in the 29th minute from a penalty. Abahani got the spot kick when their winger Shariful Islam was brought down Muktijoddha goalie Mamun Khan in the danger zone and Moroccan forward Tarik el Janabi did no mistake to convert the spot kick (1-0).
Haitian booter Fabrice Noel confirmed the Abahani victory adding one more goal in the 75th minute pushing the ball home, capitalizing on a curving through pass from Jahid Hossain (2-0).
Earlier in the 26th minute, an attempt of Abahani skipper Jahid Hassain with one to one played with Fabrice Noel, retuned to play hitting the side post.
In the dying moment of the first half, Muktijoddha forward Towhidul Alam Towhid saw his left footed curving free kick rock the Chittagong Abahani crosspiece before flying out of the field.
Three minutes after the interval, Chittagong Abahani winger Rubel Miah went through the same fate as his right footer ricocheted off the Muktijoddha crosspiece.
