Chittagong Abahani will take on Saif Sporting Club in on the opening day’s matches of the Independence Cup Football scheduled to begin on Tuesday (January 16) at country’s premier venue at Bangabandhu National Stadium.
The match will begin at 3.30 pm.
A total of 12 premier league clubs, split into four groups, will play the group stage in a round-robin format. Champions of each group will play the quarterfinals. The semifinals of the tournament are slated on February 5 and 6 while the date of final will be confirmed later stage.
The champions will receive Taka 5, 00000 while the runners-up get Taka 3, 00000 as prize money. Besides, the each participating clubs will be given Taka 2,00000 as participation money.
The fair play team, highest scorer of the tournament and best player of the tournament will also be awarded. The budget of the tournament has been fixed at near about Taka 60,00000.
