Teachers could play the most vital role in providing quality education to produce properly educated and enlightened citizens for building a sustainable society.
The observation came on Friday at a post-rally ‘Milan Mela’ of teachers organised by upazila level different teachers’ organisations in observance of the World Teachers’ Day-2018 on Birampur Pilot High School ground in Birampur upazila of Dinajpur district.
The day is being observed with the theme of “The Right to Education means the Right to a Qualified Teacher” aiming at mobilising support for teachers to meet needs of future generations by teachers. Earlier, a rally participated by teachers of all primary, secondary and degree levels schools, colleges and madrashas was brought out on the streets of Birampur municipal town.
Member of the Parliament from Dinajpur-6 constituency Shibli Sadique addressed the ‘Milan Mela’ as chief guest with President of Birampur Upazila Teachers’ Association Faruk-e-Azam in the chair. The chief guest said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has achieved epoch-making success in the education sector through ensuring all facilities for teachers as well as students to improve quality of education.
He urged teachers to properly educate students to make them knowledgeable and patriotic citizens so that they were remembered as good teachers as mark of the biggest honour for them.
Convener of the Day Observance Committee and Principal of Bizul Kamil Madrasha Dr Md Nurul Islam narrated importance of observance of the day in the country as elsewhere in the world on October 5 every year since 1994. Birampur municipal Mayor Liyakat Ali Sarker, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tauhidur Rahman, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Nur Alam, Principal Shishir Kumar Sarker and Headmaster Arman Hossain spoke at the rally. Other speakers termed teaching as one of the noblest professions that shapes character, caliber and future of an individual to turn the individual into a properly educated and enlightened citizen with the best human virtues.
