BAU Dhan-3 is a new variety of high yielding rice of Boro season on advance variety. The variety is as early and contemporary as the popular and conventional BRRI Dhan 28 of Boro season. Speaking as the chief guest at the program ‘Boro Paddy Seed (BAU Dhan-3) High Grain Variety of Boro Paddy (Bau Dhan-3) developed by Bangladesh Agricultural University, Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University of Prof. Dr. Lutful Hassan said these things. He further said that the yield of this paddy is more than the conventional BRRI DHAN 28. Yield per hectare is 7-8 tons. This rice is quite resistant to major diseases. Weight of 1000 nourished paddy is 25 g.
The life span of this variety is 140-145 days which is 3-5 days more than BRRI DHAN 28. He further said that there was no alternative to increase crop yields in Bangladesh due to increasing demand for pulses to cope with the growing population. He said this while addressing as chief guest a field day function on the occasion of Boro Seed Paddy (BAU Dhan-3) Grain Harvesting-2022 organized by BAU Farm Management division on Thursday, April 28, 2022. Prof.Dr.Md. Ramiz Uddin was presided over the programme and the Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University Prof. Dr. Lutful Hassanwas the chief guest. THE newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Kurigram Agricultural University and Student Affairs Advisor Prof. Dr. AKM Zakir Hossain, BAURES director Prof. Abu HadiNur Ali Khan were present as special guests. In the occasion Proctor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mohir Uddin, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdus Salam, Deputy Chief Farmer Super agriculturist. Ziaur Rahman, Dr. AbulKalam Azad, Director of Sports Department, Din Mohammed Dinu, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Publications Department and others were present.
