Law and order situation has deteriorated again in Khulna region. Drug peddling, snatching, robbery, cheating and eve-teasing (Sexual harassment) by the stalkers have been increasing in Khulna city and at Nine upazila areas of Khulna district. School and college going girls are in fear of molesting by some stalkers who often gossip, tease girls, even some girl-students can not go to their educational institutions due to teasing by the desperate stalkers. Drug trading, stealing, robbery, snatching and stalking are common features of Khulna region. Members of Law Enforcing agencies are playing mysterious and silent roles in this respect, it is alleged.
At least three persons were killed in three weeks of this month at different areas in Khulna city and district.
On July 11, 2018, a beheaded body identified as Nasir Sana, 37 was recovered by the police at Joynagor village of Dakop upazila of Khulna district. Nasir Sana, son of Abdur Razzak Sana was a fisherman in that area.
On the same day (July11, 2018) , miscreants killed with sharp weapons a computer student named Mehedi Hasan at Satrastar More area in the city under Khulna Kotwali police station. Mehedi Hasan, 22, son of Mamun Howladar of Bagmara area in the city was the student of computer department of a college and his father Mamun is a Massion.
At last on Friday (July 21, 2018 ), a youth named Farhad Sheikh alias Apon, 32, son of late Abdus Samad, hailing from village Jugihati in Rupsha upazila of Khulna district was slaughtered by some unidentified miscreants at his residence at Afzaler More area under Khalishpur police station in the city.
Md. Abul Khayer, officer-in-charge (Investigation) said, the deceased Farhad lived in a hired house from where his slaughtered dead-body was recovered by the police with the help of the local people.
