Cricketers to undergo Covid-19 test today

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Monday last the 24-mmember preliminary ODI squad and 20-man preliminary Test squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series and two-match Test series against West Indies.
West Indies Cricket team will arrive in the city on January 10. After that they will take a few day’s quarantine before they taking part in the one-dayer warm-up match against the hosts at the BKSP Ground in Savar on January 18.
The coaching camp of Bangladesh preliminary ODI and Test squad will formally start on January 10. Then the cricketers will play two warm-up matches on January 14 and January 16 after splitting themselves into two teams. The BCB will finally select the squad from those warm-up matches. Before the matches the cricketers, coaching staff, supporting staff, ground staff and staff of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel will undergo Covid-19 test. Those who will be tested negative for coronavirus test, will get permission to enter the bio-secure bubble environment at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the city.
A BCB sources said, ” The saliva sample of ground staff, supporting staff and hotel staff have already been collected. Today the coronavirus test for the cricketers will be held.”
Meanwhile, Head Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team Russell Domingo, Fielding Coach Ryan Cook and Pace Bowling Coach Ottis Gibson will arrive in the city on January 8. After their coronavirus test, they will get permission to enter the bio-secure bubble environment.
The Tigers will take on the Caribbean team in the first ODI at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) on January 20, face West Indies in the second ODI at the same venue on January 22, meet West Indies in the third ODI at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chattogram on January 25.
Bangladesh will play a four-dayer warm-up match against West Indies at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chattogram from January 28 to January 31.
The first Test between the hosts and West Indies will be held at the ZACS from February 3 to February 7.
The second Test between Bangladesh and West Indies will take place at the SBNCS from February 11 to February 15.
