The Cyber Tribunal Bangladesh on Wednesday granted bail to national cricketer Arafat Sunny in the case filed against him under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act in presence of the cricketer.
Judge M Saiful Islam granted the bail on a bond of Tk 50,000 after hearing on a petition filed by Sunny’s lawyer. Nasrin Sultana, who claims as Sunny’s wife, filed the case with Mohammadpur Police Station on January 5.
On January 22, Police of Mohammad Police Station arrested Sunny from his Aminbazar residence and he was put on remand for one day for interrogation by the police.
Earlier, on March 9, a court granted ad-interim
bail for one month to the cricketer in another case filed by Nasrin Sultana under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. Besides, Nasrin filed another case against Sunny and his mother under Anti-Dowry Act on January 23.
Sunny’s lawyer Jewel Ahmed told the newsmen that his client could now be released from the jail without any hindrance.
