Cricketer Rubel sent to jail

Member of Bangladesh National Cricket team Rubel Hossain was sent to jail after the pacer surrendered before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Chief Magistrate on Thursday. Anwar Sadat, the Magistrate of the Court ordered the authority to
send the pacer into the jail. Promising film actress Naznin Akhter Happy sued against Rubel Hossain in the Mirpur Police Station on December 13 that the pacer raped her several times. Happy said to the journalists, “I shall withdraw my case if Rubel marry me.”
The High Court Bench formed by Justice Syed AB Mahmudul Haque and Justice Md Akram Hossain Chowdhury gave Rubel anticipatory four-week bail on December 15. The court also ordered Rubel Hossain to surrender before the lower court during the bail.
The actress filed the case against Rubel Hossain according to Prevention of Women and Child Repression Act.
Happy alleged that she and Rubel had a nine-month affair and Rubel built an extramarital affair and promised to marry her.
Later, on December 1 Rubel Hossain refused to marry her.
Thus, Happy filed a rape case against Rubel Hossain at Mirpur Police Station as per 9/1 Act.
The Police of Mirpur Police Station made examination over Happy’s body in the Forensic Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital on December 14.
After getting the forensic report on December 24, the Officer-In-Charge of Mirpur Police Station read the investigation report on Thursday. He said, “The victim has no found recently sexual intercourse on her body.”
Meanwhile, the investigation officer of that case SI Masud Parvez stated that according to the report Happy had a physical relation with one person. But who was engage with physical relation with Happy was not identified.
Happy filed a writ petition on January 5 with High Court. She appealed to the Court to give direction to remove Rubel Hossain from Bangladesh World Cup Squad.
The High Court rejected her petition. Besides, another Dhaka Court gave permission to Police on December 31 to do DNA tests to verify her claim.
Members of Bangladesh National Cricket team will leave the city for Australia on January 24 to play in the World Cup Cricket 2015.
Pacer Rubel Hossain’s prison sentence has made his participation in the forthcoming World Cup Cricket uncertain.
President of Bangladesh Cricket Board Nazmul Hassan Papon, MP announced the 15-member Bangladesh World Cup Squad on January 4. Rubel Hossain was included in the Squad when he was in an anticipatory bail.
BCB boss told the newsmen that BCB would look for an alternative for the pacer if needed.
CEO of BCB Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said on Thursday, “It will not be right to make any remark before the issue is settled. It has just come to our knowledge. The next step will be decided after discussions with the BCB policymakers.”
