A schoolboy succumbed at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) today after being injured seriously by his friend while playing cricket in a ground here on Saturday last, police said.
The deceased was identified as Sunny, 12, a student of class six of Koilash Ranjan High School and son of Omar Ali of Shalbon area in the city.
Sunny was injured when his friend Fahim, son of Babu Mollah, hit him at the head with a cricket bat after being out (LBW) by Sunny while playing cricket at nearby Rangpur Polytechnic Institute ground on Saturday afternoon.
Sunny was rushed to RMCH immediately, and later, he succumbed to his injuries today after fighting with life for the past couple of days.
The victim’s father Omar Ali field a murder case with Kotwali police station accusing six persons in this connection today.
Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali police station Abdul Kader Zilani said that efforts were on to nab the accused persons.
