Genocide Day observed: Creating consensus on Genocide Day stressed

The first ever Genocide Day after the country’s independence was observed in Kishoreganj yesterday .
The day was earlier observed as Mass Killing Day . Kishoeganj District Administration, ruling Awami League, Jasod, Ganatantree Party, CPB and Bason and many socio-cultural organizations has chalked out elaborate programmes marking the Day.
A discussion meeting and drama organised by District Administration held at Local Art Council Hall yesterday morning.
Dilara Begum Asma M.P attended as Chief Guest while Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswa presided over .
It was addressed among others by Acting Police Super Mahemudul Hasan, Zila Parished Chairman Adv Zillur Rahman, Civil Surgeon Dr. Habibur Rahman, ADC (Gen) Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil, G.D Govt. College Principal Prof Ramesh Chandra Roy, Press Club President Kazi Shaheen Khan, CAB Secretary Monowar Hossion Rony, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, freedom fighter Adv Motiur Rahman, District Awami League Secretary Adv M.A. Afzol and Sadar UNO Abdullah-al-Masud.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: Speakers at a discussion here yesterday stressed the need for creating consensus among people at home and abroad to earn international recognition of the Genocide Day being observed today in the country. Like the Liberation War, the incident of genocide is marked permanently in the history of Bangladesh and the young generation needs to work for a due recognition of the day, they added.
