Speakers at a project facilitation meeting here have landed the role of Light House Consortium, a non-government organization, in creating awareness among the vulnerable group of people to prevent formidable threat of HIV/AIDS.
They were addressing the meeting organised by Light House Consortium at its Rangpur Drop-in-Centre (DIC) office in the city Saturday afternoon with Headmaster of Rangpur Adarsha High School Shawkat Ali in the chair.
Expanding HIV Prevention in Bangladesh, RCC Programme and The Global Fund extended assistance in arranging the meeting under the HIV/AIDS programme to bring the transgender and other vulnerable group population under medicare facilities.
Outreach Supervisor of Rangpur DIC of Light House Consortium Mizanur Rahman delivered keynote presentation narrating the activities and achievement of the organisation in the district during the recent months.
Manager of Rangpur DIC of Light House Consortium Mamun Sirajul Mazid delivered welcome speech narrating objectives of the meeting participated by the stakeholders involved with implementation process of the HIV/AIDS programme.
Executive Editor of the Daily Rangpur Chitra Shushanto Bhowmick, Female Councilor of Rangpur City Corporation Manjuri Begum, District Health Education Officer Shajahan Mian, Advocate Beauty Begum, social worker Babu Binu Islam and physician Dr Jahurul Islam addressed the meeting.
Government and non-government officials, teachers, journalists, community and religious leaders, leaders of different minority population groups, lawyers, civil society members and local elite took part in the meeting.
The speakers appreciated the activities being conducted by Light House Consortium in preventing further spread of HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) to save humanity from the severe threat of deadly diseases among the vulnerable people.
They stressed for well-coordinated efforts of all stakeholders to bring the vulnerable population under the HIV/AIDS prevention programme for preventing spread of the deadly diseases to ultimately save the whole human population.
