Staff Reporter :
Railway authority will take tough measures from September 1 against those travelling on trains’ rooftop.
In these circumstances, the railway administration urged the passengers not to travel on rooftop, said a press release.
“Travelling on train roof is risky, unsafe and a crime. Anyone can die falling from the rooftop for any reason whatsoever. Train schedule may be delayed and valuable government assets may be damaged,” it read.
The press release said, “Those who travel on train’s rooftop and encourage others to do the same are equally criminals.”
Referring to clause 129 of Railway Act of 1890, the press release said, “As per the clause if any person threatens his own life or of any passenger by his dangerous and reckless activities, then he will be awarded imprisonment up to one year or fine or the both.”
