UNB, Dhaka :
Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) will organise a three-day Teesta-March programme from April 17, demanding equitable share of the Teesta River water.
“We’ve declared the Teesta-march programme to force the government to take effective steps over the fair sharing of Teesta water,” said CPB general secretary Syed Abu Zafar Ahmed.
The left party leader announced the programme at a press conference held at the city’s CPB office.
In a written statement, Zafar Ahmed said the government signed an agreement with India to construct power plant at Rampal threatening the Sundarbans, but it failed to realise its fair share of water from India.
He said the march programme will start from Dhaka on April 17, reach Rangpur on April 18 and arrive at Dalia point of the Teesta Barrage on April 19.
