Staff Reporter :
The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and the Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) jointly have programmed a half-day hartal in the capital on Tuesday (February 28) as a mark of condemning the fresh hike in gas prices.
The Hartal will be observed from 6am to 12 noon, saying the decision as anti people, said a statement issued by CPB on Friday. However, the SSC examination centres and vehicles carrying the examinees will remain out of the purview of the hartal. CPB President Mujahidul Islam Selim, General Secretary Syed Abu Jafar Ahmed and BSD General Secretary Khalequzzaman in a joint statement protested the gas price hike decision. They said, the government has illogically raised the gas price. “People will in no way accept the decision of raising gas prices.” The CPB and the BSD leaders said they will force the government to backtrack from its ‘irrational’ decision by waging a mass protest against it.
